I have to admit, I did not like this product AT ALL when I first got it. I ordered this item off of the UK website because the price is a lot cheaper and I figured it’ll be a fun product to try. Once it arrived, I opened the container with excitement and the smile on my face quickly turned into a frown full of disappointment. I’ve heard a lot of people love the smell of this product, to me, it just smells like a mix of plastic and laundry detergent. It’s definitely the worst smell of any Lush products I’ve ever tried. My first application of this was terrible. I used it in the shower as the name suggested that it’s a shower gel. The salt quickly dissolve under the stream of water, leaving no exfoliation whatsoever and it doesn’t lather up very well either. I kept trying to make it lather a few showers later and still, nothing. I was extremely disappointed and set it aside.
Just recently, as I was doing some reorganizing for Spring, I stumbled upon this product again. I was on the verge of tossing it out since I don’t think I’ll use it again. I decided to take another sniff of the smell, nope, still don’t like it. As I screw the lid back on ready to toss it, the usage directions caught my eyes. Turned out, I was using it wrong the entire time! It’s best to use this product as a salt scrub before you get into the shower. I decided to give it a shot and I just fell in love with it. Of course, I’m still not crazy about the smell, but I can tell the different when I use this product in the shower versus when I don’t. It is a very hard core exfoliant, pack with salt. When you rub it onto your leg, or wherever you want to exfoliate, it’s harsher on your skin than Ocean Salt, which I prefer for my legs and knee, I have very stubborn bums on my knee caps. I was instantly amaze just after one use. And once you rinse off with water, you can’t identify the smell of this product anymore, any soap you use after the exfoliation will mask that smell.
Rating: 9/10. I would have given this a 10 but the smell still really disgust me. At least I know how to properly use it now instead of just tossing it out. I would definitely recommend this to people who wants very smooth and soft legs and don’t have sensitive skin so they can brave the exfoliation.
